The Lonely Gnome

about

It tells a story of artistic creation (in this case probably of songwriting); of a quiet, contemplative, solitary, and somewhat Bohemian existence, and the gathering of 'pieces' from the experiences life involves, unaware of what exactly it is one is working towards, and the subsequent fitting of them together into something coherent, that, art being what it is, may well evolve to take on a life of its own; the gnome.

It is a tale of birth, and quiet joy.

lyrics

Wednesday, death-ray
I’m a lonely gnome.
All my life inside my
Stony home.
Every night, silver light
I roam.

Thursday, worse day
Morning borne in red.
Climb the vine entwined
Through my head.
Rain and sun
Find the one to wed.

Friday, falling
Out the window
I’m on fire.
Saturday, I wake up
Down beside the river
Very quiet.

Sunday, you may say my soul is dead and gone away
But you’d be wrong.
Walk along, shshshshshsh
Turning falling-leaves into song.
Sun and rain
Around again, we’re drawn.

Monday, there’s a wonderful explosion
In my fuselage, oh, hey...
Tuesday, there’s no sugar
In my coffee
But it’s ok.
