No Honey (anymore)

about

No Honey developed as I roamed for years with a sheepskin jacket & my guitar. It moved in trains & well-worn boots through too many countries to recall. February 2021 saw its finishing.

I was raised in NZ -paradise- but too quiet. I now hang in Istanbul, where -until covid- my band gigged in the endlessly seething megalopolis.

Acoustic folk-rock. Written, played & sung by Dylan Ware. Recorded by Luc Glaister (English) at Pearshaped Productions, and mixed/mastered by Matt Loftin (Texan) all in Istanbul.

An earlier version featured on IstanbulDogs (compilation of contemporary Istanbul music).

lyrics

Hey, hey, hey, I got no honey anymore
Hey, hey, hey, no baby naked on the floor
And I never wanted this
And I never stole a kiss
But hey, hey, hey, nobody knockin’ on my door.

Hey, hey, hey, looks like I’m goin’ it alone,
Feels like a thousand years wasted on my own
And I never meant no harm
I’m under a low-down charm
But hey, hey, hey, I need my woman who can roll…

And all my days just turn to night
And all my dreams don’t come out right…

Hey, hey, hey, you think it’s easy runnin’ free?
I wouldn’t trade it for the world if that could be
But I wanna love like fire
I wanna feel desire
But hey, hey, hey, it’s just my old guitar and me…

And all my days just turn to night
And all my dreams don’t come out right…

(instrumental)

And all my days are turned to night
And all my dreams drop out of sight…

Hey, hey, hey, I got no honey anymore
Hey, hey, hey, no naked lovely on the floor
And I never wanted this
I never stole a kiss
But hey, hey, hey, no baby knockin’ on my door.
